One of our favorite projects continues to be managing the OpenToHope Foundation's online marketing efforts. When we originally took over the site in December of 2010, it looked a little to busy for my eye. Understanding that the site was designed for people in the midst of deep grief, we wanted it to be as simple as it could be. We redesigned the site in 2011 along with fixing the WordPress installation. Then the client started adding more and more content, and before you knew it we were moving toward a cluttered site again. So back to the drawing board we went and landed on the design you see. What was important is that we went to a format that was grouped by content:
Upper-left corner - Welcome from the founders
Upper-right - A tabbed section dealing with main types of death visitors come to the site for help with.
Lower-left - A tabbed section by the format of the material, articles, audio, video and calendar.
Lower-right - The Community Forums where visitors are able to share their pain and recovery.
We are pleased to have been able to do this update as we feel it greatly simplifies the many ways you can go upon arriving at the website.
A special thank you to Jeni Olsen and Chelsea Terrill of Jeni Olsen Design. This was a bear of a project to design, and what Jeni and Chelsea came up with was wonderful. Always nice to be able to give simplistic guidance and have a design team create a far better reality than you expected! Thanks again Jeni and Chelsea.
